Vocal Majors 10/25/16 Goal

Something I want to accomplish in Vocal Majors this week is to work on my higher register and to learn the ends of the pieces so that we can run through the whole song!

Math Check In 2

Figures Y and W are similar because figure Y is 4×3, and figure W is 8×6. There is a scale factor of 2. Figures T and V are similar because T is 2×3, and V is also 2×3. The scale factor is 1, and they are the same size.

Rectangle 1 is similar to the provided one because it is 8×6, and the other is 4×3. There is a scale factor of 2. Rectangle 2 is not similar to the provided one because it is 1×2, and it does not go straight into 4×3.

Triangle 3 is similar to the provided one because it is 2×3, and the other is 4×6. There is a scale factor of –  2. Triangle 4 is not similar to the provided one because it is 1×2, and does not go into 4×3.

I’ve had different experiences in math over the years. I’m good at some things, like Geometry and Multiplication. I’m not good at other things, like Fractions, or Division. The last two years were hard for me because there was a lot of pressure. I find math easier without that pressure. In 4th grade, it was different. Our teacher brought in an oddly shaped cake for a geometry lesson one time. We had to divide it into equal pieces, and then we could eat it. Everyone loved that class. Something I like about learning math is that it’s easy when you catch on. Also, it’s very helpful in other matters. Something I don’t like about math would be that it can be really stressful, and very confusing at times. When I understand the math, I’m not a bad student. When I don’t, or if I’m really annoyed, then I’m not the best math student. Usually what I do when I get home is make a plan. I try to figure out when I’ll do what homework, and how that will affect other activities, or things that need to happen. When I get stuck on math, what helps me is doing some other homework, eating dinner and/or playing with my cat, then trying again. Something else you may want to know is that sometimes I get a little distracted, but I’m working on it. Also, if I’m a bad student, it could be that I had too much homework last night, or I’m tired, hungry, or just waiting for recess. Hopefully that won’t happen a lot this year. Other than all that stuff, I’m ready for class

Value Chart

I was asked “how did you create your grid?” I made the grid for my value  chart with a ruler. I measured the distances between the edge of the paper and the grid, and I also got the distances between the rows. Then I used a 2H pencil to draw a grid, and then erase the spaces between the rows, and the extra lines. It may not have turned out perfect, but I’m really not good with rulers. That is how I made my grid for my value chart.
