Morning Meeting or Advisory Energizers! (from BookWidgets)
“Sports gallery” is an intensive energizer. The teacher calls out different sports skills. The students mimic them in place for 10 seconds (spread out!). Possible skills:
- Shooting a jump shot
- Juggling a soccer ball
- Dancing salsa
- Batting a baseball
- Swinging a golf club
- Downhill skiing
- Serving a tennis ball
- Shooting an arrow
- Throwing a javelin
Countdown
Start in a circle. The goal is for the class to count from 1-20 (or to the total number of students) in no particular order. Students count out loud one at a time, whenever they want, but if two students say a number at the same time the class has to start counting from 1 again. Wonder how long it will take until you reach 20?
Give a compliment
No one’s too old for compliments! Each student gets a paper taped to their back. Every student has to write down a personalized compliment (or positive morning message) on the paper on the backs of every other student. They cannot miss a single one. Afterwards, the students can read their paper and all the compliments/messages they have been given.
