Project by: Dennis Steel (9th Grade), Jaedyn Garcia Shockness (9th Grade)
Project Advisor: Daniel Li
Student(s)’s Advisor(s): Joan Jubett, Anna Gonzales

Description of the Project: After getting an introduction to neuroscience and how addiction works chemically we will be taking anonymous polls regarding mood, and social media usage, afterward we will be presenting our findings.

Final Product (e.g., documents, images, video, audio, poster, display, etc.):

Final Reflection on Learning: The process felt easy and quick. Choosing a topic that we were interested in definitely helped with that. It took a few weeks for us to get a grasp on how to apply things like dopamine to the effects of social media on a growing mind but once we hit a stride it was smooth sailing.

Update on Progress from Weeks 1-3 (include any photos or video if relevant): Going over basic neuroscience, learning about brain regions and action potential.

Update on Progress from Weeks 4-6 (include any photos or video if relevant): Went into more of the specifics of action potential and how chemicals like dopamine play into it. Starting to come up with questions for a poll that we’ll be using to apply our findings to.

Update on Progress from Weeks 7-9 (include any photos or video if relevant): Collecting poll results and presenting them through the lens of neuroscience using the information from the classes with Daniel.
