Final Reflection on Learning: Over the course of the trimester I’ve been working on the keyboard part to the Musical “Footloose.” For me, this was a completely different type of playing piano than I had ever done before. I’ve always played jazz piano, which involves a lot of improvisation and very little reading of music. This project was much more challenging for me because of how much music it required for me to read. Through this project, I was able to greatly increase my playing abilities both through reading and technique. I enjoyed it quite a bit. Another thing that was new for this project was the experience of playing in a band pit for a musical that I had never done either. It was great to be a small part of something much bigger and the overall experience of the show was really informative and fun. It was also a great experience to be able to play in a band filled with professional musicians because the communication with them was much different than playing with others my age who play for fun. Overall, this project took a lot of work, but in the end, it was very rewarding because it was both a lot of fun and very educational.

Here’s one of the pieces from the performance:Final Product (e.g., documents, images, video, audio, poster, display, etc.):  somebody’s eyes.aif
