Throughout 11th grade, and going into the first Trimester of 12th grade, I have investigated and experimented with Modern Physics. I have read through the majority of Glencoe Science “Physics Principles and Problems” textbook as a framework for the topics I have been learning about. These range from Momentum and Sound Waves to Thermal Energy and the Refraction of Light. In this project, I hoped to learn more about how different forms of interference impact the way light acts in addition to how electricity and light relate to one another.

WORK PRODUCT AND FINAL REFLECTION:

In the third and final portion of this Honors Project, I have completed reading through the majority of Glencoe Science’s “Physics Principles and Problems” textbook and have been able to study sound waves, thermal energy, the behavior, and fundamentals of light. My poster encapsulates the results of such topics._______________________________________________________________________

ORIGINAL PROPOSAL

Critical thinking, creativity, citizenship, and courage are essential LREI learning values. Explain how you’ll draw on at least one of these values to complete your proposed project?

Through this project, critical thinking and courage merge together, as I am tackling a new topic. I have yet to fully understand the behavior of light and electricity, and doing so will be challenging.

What is your proposed outcome? How will you be able to demonstrate successful completion of this Project? How do you plan to share your learnings with the larger LREI community (e.g., the exhibit of work, a poster of learnings, performance, etc.)?

I will demonstrate the successful completion of this Project by creating a poster that is informed by a final lab report that I conduct from one of the experiments I choose to do.

Please provide a general outline that indicates your work plan for the trimester? What are some of the key project benchmarks (i.e., goals that will help to ensure that you finish the project)?

My proposed outcome is to develop an understanding of the main topics of light, energy, and electricity including experiments that explore their respective properties. I will exhibit the successful completion of this project by sharing what I’ve learned with my classmates and creating a final lab report of an experiment that I create.

When do you plan on meeting?
Weekly (every Thursday during second lunch)
