Creative Writing Piece

In creative writing we have guide lines to help us write. One of them was what would happen if you had 100 balloons. I wrote a piece of an adventure about a guy who gets 100 balloons and flights up into the air. When he is in the air he gets hit by a plane and wakes up in Portugal with 3 weird guys. I have not finished this piece but I like it because I know the ending will be very good.

The day I got 100 balloons was like nothing before. It was just a regular day and then I was given the balloons, and now I am in Lisbon Portugal.  My name is Langston Grant from Miami, but now I am in Portugal living in a shack. The day I was handed the balloons was a few weeks ago, and this is how the tail goes.

It was just a regular day in Miami when some crazy guys comes up to me and says, “Hey you skiny guy come here”, “me I say”, “yes you”. I walk over the odd man and right away starts blabbing things about 100 balloons later he pulled about 100 balloons! He asked if I wanted them but I simply said no. He seemed really mad that I said no and shoved the balloons in my hands, and I slowly flew away.

I was flying in the air being pulled up by 100 balloons I wanted to go back down but I was too far up and the drop would have killed me. Higher and higher I went panicking inside trying to stay calm but it was too hard. My arm was getting tired from holding the balloons so I tied the string to my waist. It felt like hours I was in the air for so long. Later I heard something really loud, and I saw a plane coming my way. I tried to get out the way but I couldn’t. The plane was getting closer and I could see the pilot’s face. The look on the pilots was horrified. The plane was so close, then I felt then the impact.

I found myself awaken in a strange hut. I opened my eyes and I was lying on a bed with 3 huge men looking over me. When they saw me open my eyes they started talking in portuguese really fast. Quickly I said I speak english, I did not think they knew how to speak english but they did. “We found lying in a forest not far from here with many balloons,” said one of the huge man.

“We bring you back to this hut and gave you medicine,”

said another big man. “Where am I”, I said. “Lisbon Portugal!” the 3 men cried.

I wondered how I ended up in Portugal, but I remembered some strange man gave me 100 balloons, and I started to float up in the air and the next thing I know I was hit by a plane.

I got up and asked for food. Later I was severed roast sluckling pig and sausages which were as red as a fire truck.

Guild

medievalcoll-5My guild is the armors and armory. Lately we have a warrior from a place in the medieval era. My warrior is named Arjun Lal he is from India. We also have been playing a game called Total War Medieval 2. In the game we learn how to attack and defend a castle. We are making a chain mil out of wire.

Arabian Nights

Revision means looking over again and editing. It also means adding on and including more.

Before I edited my work there were a lot of places  were I could have added more detail. There were also a lot of places were I did not have strong vocab. I also could have added more parts with my theme about the power of story telling. I added this editing  after I got feedback from Julia to have stronger vocab and be more descriptive.  My writing partner also told me to incorporate more from my story arc such as adding more about the desert part.

Cloisters

The Cloisters was very interesting trip with very nice art work. I really liked the Unicorn Tapestries and the outdoor garden. It was very relatable to social studies because it had lots of art work of what we are learning about such as the black plague.

Parzival essay

When we had to write an essay on Parzival I am very proud of my piece because I had a good thesis statement and strong body paragraph’s also I had good evidence to back up my idea. I learned that TEEAC (topic sentence, explanation, evidence, analysis, conclusion) makes your writing a lot better. I can continue to do my best work in the future by having good and strong body paragraph.

Asking questions in life is very important because it leads to learning. In Parzival by Katherine Paterson, the main character, Parzival, does not know much about life, as he lives with his mother in the middle of the forest. When Parzival goes off to the real world he has no “street smarts” whatsoever and is very naive. Parzival goes on many adventures and his asking questions helps him in many ways. Sometimes Parzival  does not ask questions, and he faces many consequences.  Parzival’s ability to ask questions in order to gain knowledge helps him a lot, including becoming a knight, a king and finding his siblings.

Parzival asked questions to some knights he saw in the forest he found out more about life and was destined to be a knight. Since Parzival was raised alone in the woods with his mother he did not know of God and knights and when he met the knights and asked questions about being a knight he was destined to become a knight. As soon as Parzival got home he asked his mom about knights and wanted to be one. “And then ran to tell his mother all that he had seen and heard.”(p.9)One day Parzival came to Arthur’s court where he could become a knight, and he was very eager to become a knight. “Make me a knight!”(p.24) Also he wanted armor very eagerly so he kills a red knight right who has armor right away.”The red knight fell to the ground.”(p.28)Here Parzival asking questions helped him in many ways such as becoming a knight. Asking questions helped Parzival to become a knight which eventually made him a king.

When Parzival was at wild mountain he asked the question why the king was so hurt, which made him a king. Parzival arrived at wild mountain one day, and he asked the question why the king was so sick. The king became better because the question heals the king, and Parzival was king.He came back to ask the question and became king “The grail knight had come.” (p.122) Parzival healed the king and became the king. “Anfortas was no longer king. Glady, he gave crown to Parzival and became one of the templars whose life was devoted to the grail.” (p.123) Asking questions helped him here because he soon was  king and helped Anfortas.Asking questions helped Parzival because he was a king and later found his siblings.

Later Parzival meet some of his siblings he did not know who there were and asked questions. Posterior he found out that they were his siblings.Parzival has meet a lot of his siblings over time, but did not know it was them so he asked questions and found out that they were his siblings.Parzival meets his brother and asked to know who he is. “Who are you bold knight.”(p.114) As well he meets his uncle by asking questions about god. “God will help, but where was his help for me?” (p.101)When Parzival meets his siblings he soon finds out who they are by asking questions, and that helps him. Since he meets his brother by asking questions he goes on a journey with him.For Parzival asking questions helped him  meet his siblings and much more great things.

Because Parzival has not much knowledge when he leaves his mother as young boy asking questions helped him a lot for example becoming a knight finding his siblings, and becoming king. When Parzival does not ask questions he faces hard times and many consequences such as wild mountain  he does not ask the questions and many horrible things happen.

Beowulf Annotations

During Beowulf we annotated in many ways. For example we underlined important info, we wrote a chapter summary at the end of each chapter and we circled and defined words we did not know. Annotating is important because you can look back in the book for words you don’t know that you defined, when people see your annotations they can understand the book better and you can understand the book. One thing that I did well was making chapter summary’s at the end of each chapter so when I need to do an assignment  I can look back at my work. One thing I want to improve is uderlining important info so I know what is important and what’s not.

Beowulf Project

IMG_0751In humanities we were assigned  a topic from Beowulf and we were split in to groups. My group was assigned the fen which was were Grendel lived. Something I found proud about when we were finished was the picture turned out great. I am proud of this because at the beginning of the picture it looked like a child haunted house and at the end it looked like the fen it self.
