The first few weeks of school have gone by, and the eighth graders are finally getting back into the rhythm of waking up every morning and heading to the red brick building. Some aren’t accepting the rhythm yet, but most are excited that this week they are not having classes but going to Washington DC. The Washington DC trip has been taking place for many years now with different eighth grade classes. The trip is four days, and it involves visiting museums, studying monuments, and it give you a chance to bond with not only members of your grade, but also your teachers. One aspect of the trip is to inspire social justice, and get kids thinking about what they specifically want their topic to be, and how to execute their project. Another aspect of the trip is when visiting all the important government buildings, monuments, and museums is to witness where important decisions have been made for our country in the past and today, and think about how we can make important decisions. The Washington DC trip is a perfect balance of experiencing what you’re learning while having fun. Everyone is very excited for the trip, and can’t wait to hop on the bus!
