On September 20, a worldwide climate strike took place with 7.6 million strikers, including 1.4 million students. The New York City government let all public school students leave early on Friday for the strike and they will not be penalized. This is the leading reason that so many people could come to the Climate Strike. Over 60,000 people participated in the New York City strike in which many of whom were students. There were speakers such as Greta Thunberg, and Vic Barrett. This was such a huge deal and it was actually the biggest climate movement in history which is incredible. It took place in 150 countries and made such a huge impact and really spread more awareness. I know lots of people from LREI went (including me) and I thought it was one of the most amazing experiences I’ve ever had. It was one of the only times I have seen (so directly) so many people united and fighting for what they believe in. This was so incredible, I hope you came, and if not, I hope you come to another strike or movement about something you are passionate about!
