As many of you may know, this year’s middle school musical is Newsies! Both of us (Shoshi and Violet) play newsies in the cast. Being in the show is an experience that is memorable, exciting, interesting, and also hard and stressful at times. Many of you will probably see it, but what you don’t see is what goes on behind the scenes. Rehearsal is a place where you can make new friends, and memories that will last a lifetime. It starts to get a little harder as the show progresses, and rehearsals get longer and more frequent. But, the rewards that come later on are so worth it. Costumes are sewn, sets are made, the crew is fully prepared, and actors become their characters. The show starts to come to life. It starts to develop into what you will see, not what happens in rehearsal. No matter what age or what part, everyone comes together as a family throughout the show, and is there to support each other no matter what. There are so many people that you wouldn’t know at all or even say hi to in the hallways that are now some of your good friends. This is one of the things that makes being in the production so amazing. If you want to see how this show comes together, make sure to come to one of the performances, Friday, May 10th at 7 pm, and Saturday, May 11 at 2 and 7 pm.
