Broadway News –
This week, Broadway’s King Kong canceled their matinee performance after technical difficulties. On April 27th, the King Kong mechanical puppet broke down, mid-show, during act one. No performers were injured in the issues, thankfully, and technical problems are being fixed now. April 25th, Beetlejuice opened at the Winter Garden Theatre. Our final piece of news is that Be More Chill will be releasing their cast recording album May 3rd. Also, look out for Tony nominee and performances being released soon.
Musical of the Week –
In honor of their opening, today’s musical will be Beetlejuice. The show stars Alex Brightman as Beetlejuice and Sophia Anne Caruso stars as Lydia. Barbara and Adam Maitland are played by Kerry Butler and Rob Mcclure. Leslie Kritzer and Adam Dannheisser play Delia and Charles Deetz. The show is directed by Alex Timbers and is written by Scott Brown and Anthony King. Also, lyrics and music are by Eddie Perfect. The show is about Lydia Deetz, a strange teenage girl obsessed with all things dead and related to death. When her house is haunted by a ghost couple and Beetlejuice, everything changes. Lydia is able to call Beetlejuice whenever to scare away anyone. Beetlejuice is full of “life” and happiness but his power begins to expose a world of chaos.
