Looking to get healthy in the new year? Here are some foods/habits/tips to help!

I have heard many people say that their new year’s resolution is to be healthier in 2019. I thought I could write an article to show different foods, eating habits and tips to help with this goal.

*This article is not stating that everyone must do these things to be healthy, it is just to help people who want to*

Foods:

The following foods help gain muscle weight, which is helpful for athletes or for people who need to gain more weight/nutrients for health reasons:

  1. Protein Smoothies
  2. Milk
  3. Nut Butters
  4. Red Meat
  5. Salmon
  6. Whole Grain

The following foods help lower cholesterol:

  1. Tea
  2. Nuts
  3. Garlic
  4. Oats
  5. Dark Chocolate
  6. Avocado

The following foods help with weight loss:

  1. Eggs
  2. Fruits and Vegetables(grapefruit, apples, blueberries, broccoli, beans etc.)
  3. Lentils
  4. Salmon
  5. Yogurt
  6. Quinoa

Habits:

Here are some eating habits to help lose weight:

  1. Cut back on sugars and starches
  2. Eat protein and vegetables
  3. Eat a high protein breakfast
  4. Drink coffee or tea
  5. Drink water half an hour before meals
  6. Eat whole, unprocessed foods
  7. Eat your food slowly
  8. Eat lots of produce
  9. Cut down on sodium and saturated fats
  10. Get a good night’s sleep

Health Tips:

  1. Try to exercise 2-4 times a week!
  2. Always stretch before you exercise, so you don’t get hurt.
  3. Don’t go on crazy diets, because they might make you sick, just stick to healthy habits.
  4. Try to always stay hydrated, drink 6 to 8 cups of water each day.
  5. Be positive, it will make you happier and healthier:)
  6. Get outside, and be active!
  7. Cook some healthy recipes for yourself!
  8. Walk more instead of driving, or taking other forms of transportation
  9. Find fun activities that help you exercise
  10. Set goals for yourself!
  11. Most importantly, don’t give up, and don’t compare yourself to others.
