There has been a recent outbreak of e Coli in romaine lettuce. This has caused a recall of romaine lettuce in some stores, and many warnings have been issued not to eat it. It has caused many people to get very sick, sometimes life-threatening. This has also caused other types of lettuce to become more expensive, because of the shortage of romaine. People first came aware of this break out during Thanksgiving week, on November 20th. There have been many investigations trying to figure out the cause of this outbreak. The cause is now said to be from a contaminated area where the romaine was growing, in Northern and Central California. However, Romaine lettuce is starting to come back into stores and should be safe to eat everywhere soon.
