Economics Syllabus
Economics and Social Issues
This course will provide a general introduction to the discipline of economics. Students will also develop an understanding of how economic principles and analysis can be used to study social issues. We will focus six essential questions that highlight fundamental concepts. Throughout the course economic choices and policies decisions will be examined in light of their impact on society and in the context of social policy in the United States and the world.

Grading
Homework (30%)
• Assignments are due at the beginning of class.
• All written homework must be typed.
• Each late assignment lowers the overall grade for the class.
Exams and Quizzes (25%)
• A quiz is possible after any assigned reading.
• There will be a midterm and final exam.
Participation (20%)
• Students will be graded on their preparation for and contribution to class discussions and activities.
• Notebooks will be collected and checked during the midterm and the final exams.
Projects (25%)
• Projects require individual and group work.
• Grades are based on the quality of the process and the product.
