Overview: Overview: World War II was the single most important event in the 20th century. This global conflict had many major turning points, which ultimately affected the outcome of the war. Students have explored a major turning point of the Second World War. Using your research answer the questions below. Be sure to follow the Paper Format, the Essay Guidelines, and be sure to consult the model paper.
What was the sequence of events, which comprised the turning point? (The beginning, the climax and the ending) Was the turning point an Axis or Allied victory? (Explain) Why was this turning point important? (The impact on the rest of the war and world history)

Essay Guidelines
Introduction
- Grab the reader’s attention
- Give a brief overview of the turning point
- Provide a clear one or two sentence thesis that answers the question: Why was the turning point was important?
Body Paragraphs
- Describe the beginning, the climax, and the end of the turning point. (This may be done in one or several paragraphs)
- Explain why the turning point was an Axis or Allied victory.
- Discuss the importance of the turning point by explaining its impact on the war and if possible world history. Each reason should be given its own paragraph.
Conclusion
- Answer the question “So What?” Show your readers why this paper was important. Show them that your paper was meaningful and useful.
- Synthesize, don’t summarize. Do not simply repeat things that were in your paper. Show how the points you made and the support and examples you used were not random, but fit together.
