Suppose you could be assured that if you stole something, you would never get caught. Does this change what is the right thing to do? Why or why not? Does the “value” of what you steal make a difference?

Stealing isn’t the real issue; the amount that’s stolen is. — I know it’s not the right thing to do, but it doesn’t seem too bad. — It’s not wrong to “borrow” $20 from your parents’ wallet overnight. — It’s not for me; it’s to help a friend.

What other excuses have you heard for stealing? Why do you think that people make these excuses? Are they effective? What price may a person who makes an excuse like this pay even if they don’t get caught?

You stole something and now it looks like you could turn it into a potential business opportunity. Why should you stop now?
