Circuit Essay

Francisco lost an important notebook in the fire but his mom cheers him up.

He was angry that his notebook was destroyed because most of the things he learned in his life were in it but his mom made him feel better. The book was destroyed but his mom cheered him up. “Well… if you know what was in your librito then it’s not all lost” p.g 112. When he was mad that his librito burned but his mother helped him find the silver lining by telling him that he already knows everything in it.

School was difficult for Francisco but he would always stay positive. He never gave up when he was getting teased and bullied. He stayed strong. Francisco faced bullies but he was grateful to be able to learn and make friends. When he went to a new school he faced bullies but was thankful he got to go to school and learn. He was getting angry because of the bully but he looked for the silver lining and was thankful for getting to go to school, learn and make new friends.

When he moved from Mexico to California it was hard for him. He was not fitting in right. The teachers would force him to speak English even though he didn’t know any English.Francisco and his friend were talking in Spanish and his teacher said don’t talk Spanish. But when I spoke to Arthur in Spanish and Miss Scalapino heard me she said “NO!” He was mad that he had to speak in English but he was excited he got to learn a new language.

Even though life is hard he will always find the silver lining. When life is hard Francisco will still be happy. He has a challenging life but he is still happy. When his sister stole his pennies he ended up forgiving her. When his librito burned in the fire he didn’t give up. When he moved from mexico to California it was hard but he stayed strong. He will be angry for a little bit and then be nice. Are you like Francisco?

Egyptian Tomb Coding Reflection

http://web.editey.com/0Byz4NTz8gSfYcGlaZlU4aER4TUE/index.htmlI really liked coding the website because I never learned how to code stuff like this. I coded before but never like this. this was a lot harder. I learned how to add images into a website with code. I struggled on figuring out what to put on the second page. I would like to do something like this but not exactly like this because I like to try new stuff.

Shark Tank Simulation

On our space the sharks on the graph represent humans, the Minnows represent protein, and the seaweed represents plants on the ship. If the humans eat to much protein, a unbalanced food chain will appear. That means that there will not be any more food for the humans to eat, so the humans will die. The protein will also die because the humans ate all of it. That means the Plants will grow and there will be to many of then.

Infographic review

One fact I learned was that the Staten Island Yankees won four championships in the last 8 years. This project I learned how to photoshop. I might use it for birthday cards. I liked this project because we got to learn sports facts and got to photoshop. I would use photoshop and illustrator again. I would like to do infographics again. I thought photoshopping  difficult. I enjoyed making the infographic in illustrator.

Scratch Reflection

I think my game turned out good because it actually works. When I wanted something to happen, I put my mind to it and made it happen by adding code to it. One thing I struggled with was trying to make all the sprites start at one place and move closer to each other to make them explode. My favorite part about making the game was how I had to time all the sprites so that they can explode into the big bang.

My Atomic Model

screen-shot-2016-10-25-at-12-34-22-pmThis is my model of an atom. It mostly resembles Thompson’s model. It mostly resembles Thompson’s model because the gray is like the cookie and the red and blue are like the chocolate chips. After studying atoms in science I learned that there are a lot of people who think atoms look different.

Zoetrope

In my zoetrope there is a ball bouncing back and fourth. I thought that is was so fun because it was the first time I ever did it before. I think I could do a little bit better because  when I was sketching I think I could of done a little bit better. I would of focused harder during the sketch.

Welcome to your digital portfolio!

Welcome to your brand new digital portfolio/blog at blogs.lrei.org!

Your portfolio can be used for many things through out your middle and high school years, including:

  • Documenting and reflecting on your learning, passions, and interests, both in and out of school
  • Curating and highlight work for your Family Conferences
  • In some instances, your teachers will ask you to submit, reflect and comment on work in this portfolio

It is our hope that you also seek to make this a personally relevant learning space in which you curate work that is important and meaningful to you. As you build this learning space, we also hope that you will use it as a way to connect with other learners in the LREI community and beyond.

Your LREI account (Mail, Docs/Drive) credentials will automatically get you into your blog. Here are a few things you’ll want to take a look at:

1. Change the name of your blog. To do this, go back to the Dashboard and click on the “Home” symbol, then on “MS Digital Portfolio Template” under “This Blog.”

Blog

In the field for “Site Title,” add a new title. You can use your first name if you want (e.g., “Mark’s Digital Portfolio”), but don’t use your first and last name. You can also create a title that doesn’t have your name in it. Be as creative as you want, but keep in mind that the title should relate to the purpose of the portfolio.

After you’ve added a new title, click “Save Changes” at the bottom of the page.

2. Add a Post

For the most part, you’ll be adding items to your blog as posts. To add a new post, you can click on the +New button in the top bar of your blog, and then select “Post.”

You’ll want to give each post a title, and assign it to a Category. These categories are broken down by class and grade (e.g., fifth grade, core, etc.). This will allow you to organize and sort information so that you can control the look and feel of your blog. If you take a look at the menu bar under the blog title, you see the different groups of categories (e.g., class, grade, teacher, etc.).

When you’re done with your post you can click “Publish” on the side to make the post appear on your blog
