The Circuit Essay

Even though Francisco didn’t have a lot of money he still liked to share the things he loves with other people. Not having money is hard and people do whatever they can to get it. To do that Francisco’s family has to push themselves past the limits and conquer obstacles that no one else can.

All Francisco wanted for Christmas was a ball, but he shows generosity to his family when he didn’t get what he wanted. Francisco saw people playing with a ball and he always thought about playing with one. When Christmas came around and he didn’t get what he wanted so, he just accepted the other gift, a bag of candy and continued through his day. At the beginning of the chapter he thought of fantasies of playing with a ball instead of papa’s words.  “But we are broke too.” page 54. Even though Francisco is poor he still tries to get what he wants by working in the fields and going to school.

When Francisco met Carl he felt like he had a friend to play with and could hang out with. When Carl left he was sad and missed him a lot. Over the year he forgot about him and made new friends like Carlos. Francisco would show Carl his pennies collection and they would trade pennies and hang out. They would always sit next to each other in class and on the bus. When Francisco looked through the window and Carl was not there he felt sad. “ .“

In first grade Francisco had no friends and couldn’t speak English, but stood up to the mean bullie Curtis. Francisco had a rough time in 1st grade. When his teacher Mr. Sims found out that Francisco didn’t have a coat he gave him one from the lost and found. Unfortunately that happen to be Curtis’s coat and he beat Francisco up. Francisco was generous enough to give the picture of a butterfly to him.

“ It’s yours I repeated, handing him the drawing of the butterfly.” page 26. Francisco likes to share things with everyone even with people that he doesn’t like.

Even though Francisco was poor, sharing things is what made him happy. Being poor is hard, but Francisco’s family show’s determination by conquering obstacles that no one else can. Like when he lost his libretto in the house fire, he always has to move and lastly, getting deported. These 3 examples support my thesis because they show the determination and strength of Francisco. This helps Francisco because it teaches him that he is able to conquer anything. I think this relates to me because when I was little I had a hard time growing up. I was changing schools and had to do math with my dad everyday. Besides the math part I think relates to me.
