Circuit Essay

A family is a very important thing. They teach you to love and to learn. Hard times seem brighter when your family is with you. They guide you on the right path. They teach you responsibility and trust. In the Circuit Francisco needs his family more than ever. When Torito was born they prayed. When the dad’s back hurt they took turns rubbing his back. And when the fish were dying Francisco picked them up. Even during hard times Francisco and his family all pitch in

Francisco’s dad’s back hurt, so his whole family pitched in and hoped his back would get better. Although some of the children in his family are only three or two they all helped him get better. They did not refuse because they did not want to but their family depended on him working or else they would not have enough money to get food or water. They did not have fits or cry they knew that they needed their father to feel better, or else they would run out of food and water. Their lives depended on their father! So they each take turns massaging him. “Mama, Roberto and I took turns massaging him with Vick’s Vapo Rub,” Pg. 123. This quote works because it shows how they all stayed positive by pitching in.
When Torito was born (Francisco’s little brother) everyone pitched in by taking care of him. While mama rested Francisco took care of Torito. Sometimes Roberto would too. They all took care of a whining toddler cradling him to go to sleep and waking up in the middle of the night to his cries. It’s a very hard thing to take care a child. But everyone pitched in with no complaints. Because they knew that it was a very hard time. When Torito got sick they had to work even harder. “No one slept well. Torito woke up crying several times. The next morning mama’s eyes were puffy and red” pg.34. This quote connects to the story because it shows that they all worked hard to help their sick brother.
When there was a flood Francisco saved all the fish. He knew they were just fish but they were living things too. He pitched in into saving as many lives as possible. His family didn’t care. He saw the fish helpless and rigging and could not stand it anymore, so he saved them. “ I filled it with water and began picking up the small dying fish from the mud puddles and returning them to the creek” pg. 50. This quote shows that even during hard times when they were at the camp and they had no interest in dead fish Francisco still saved them. And even gave one to their neighbors!

Even during hard times in the Circuit, Francisco and his family all pitch in. They all pitch in when the dads back hurt, Doritos sickness and praying, and the dying fish. These all demonstrate that even you can’t physically make an emotion better but with the help of others it can make the situation better than ever. Not just some random nurse fixing up a cut. Your family and close friends helping you through a deep and dark problem.
