Summer Reflection
Oh, summer, I miss you already! Camp, California…I wish I could be back there.
Something that I really liked about summer was California. I liked it because my entire family lives there and I love spending time with them. I also loved it because of my birthday. My birthday was super fun and we did so many fun things. One of them was that we had a really nice breakfast. After that, we went to the Santa Monica pier and I went to the arcade with all my cousins, including my baby cousins who were really really fun. Oh my god, I miss them! One of my cousins, Tyler, was one (he’s now two). Harry and Theo are three and five. After that, we went back to their house and swam and opened presents.
Another thing that I enjoyed was sleepaway camp. When I first met my bunkmates, they seemed really nice and excited to see me. They were playing basketball and I joined in, and they said, “You’re really good!” and I said, “No, you guys are really really good, too.” As the weeks went on, we got to know each other better and had a lot of fun together. Those friends actually matter more to me than the camp itself.
Something that I learned this summer is that when you get older you have a lot more responsibility. Like when I went to sleepaway camp for four weeks I had a lot more responsibility than I had at home. I had to take care of myself all the time. My parents weren’t there to tell me what to eat or not eat; I could have eaten five desserts a day if I wanted to, which some days I did!
I loved camp and I loved my cousins. I’m excited for this school year, but I am already thinking about next summer, and I hope it’s even better!
