Dadi

Untitled drawing(Shabanu’s father is a strong man with broad shoulders and very distinct thoughts on right from wrong).

funI am furious with my with my daughter Shabanu. In a couple of days I will go to sibi and I am just furious. If only Shabanu would learn how to control herself. Ever since Shabanu was little she has always been quite the rebel. She is so attached to the camels I fear that she will be upset to let them go. We need the money for the rest of the year. We have the best camels and people always try to get them for the lowest prices. If Shabanu is to become a housewife she going to need to know some basic responsibility. This keeps on coming up over and over again with my daughter. She doesn’t know how to tell choice from her job.

  1. Shabanu: No! You can’t sell Guluband! He means the world to me! I can’t believe you would write about me like that!

  2. Why are you so furious with her Dadi? You didn’t say. Don’t be so mad at Shabanu, it’s not all her fault.

  3. I am so sorry Dadi I did not men for you to be mad, “mama tells me that I am wild as the wind but I need to learn to obey”. I agree with her and I am sorry. I just thought since I spend the most time with the camels I would know what to do.

  4. Let them go? We better not be talking about Guluband! Dadi, the camels are the only thing that take you guys off my mind. I need them! I need Guluband! “I rub Guluband’s nose and slip a piece of brown sugar under his lip” Pg 9
