Personal Art Project

For my personal art project I am painting a photo I took. I am using acrylics to paint over a sketch of mine. I want to go with the impressionism look and substitute different colors in the sky. The setting is a sunset over looking a beach. The grass is peaking through the sand and a fence goes all the way down the side. In this painting I will show perspective and a nice blend of colors. I am using pink and purple mixes in the sky.   I will use a dark green as contrast in the grass. I definitely think that this will be one of the projects that never feel complete. I will always want to add more colors and more strokes. I am learning how acrylic paints act differently than watercolors. I am learning the appropriate thickness for the paint on my brush do get the outcome I want on the board.

Upcoming Illustrator project

In digital art we worked on Photoshop and then we transitioned to Illustrator. I got the chance to explore how to change an image using pixels and then the comparison of changing lines. I have a idea that I want to pursue in my next project. I would like to upload a picture of Gizmo and make his face into a colorful poster. Gizmo is Oni’s dog that is having trouble with comfortably living. He is old and sadly doesn’t have much time left, but in the time he does I would love to do an art project on him. This project really intrigues me and I can’t wait to get started on it.

Photoshop Project-Artist Statement

This is the first time I have used photoshop in a very long time. I used a photo that I took with my personal camera of Oni. The ideas weren’t really flowing and I went through a lot of trial and error before I got my final product. I masked a lot more than it looks like.  I had to mask every individual bubble. I even masked a tree to the side and a bush. I experimented with a lot of filters and tints to see all the different ways this project could turn out. My main element of design that I use is emphasis. I do that by adding an outer glow to Oni and by giving the bubble she is touching an outer glow too. And by Making Oni the center piece with the most vibrancy. I use balance and scale when giving the illusion that the bubbles are closer or farther away. This makes all of them come together as a whole. The bubbles also use pattern due to the fact that some of the bubbles are the same and are placed asymmetrically. I use contrast by making the forest monotone and giving Oni bright colors that make her pop. I also believe that I use rhythm because First you look at Oni, then you follow the bubbles up, as if they are floating up. Projects never feel finished to me but I know i spent a lot of time working on this. This was my experimental time with photoshop and there is so much more to learn.

value chart

The techniques that are shown in this value chart are hatching, cross hatching, stippling and random marks. They all are different ways in which you can show value. Hatching means you are making straight lines in one direction. Cross hatching means making straight lines in multiply directions. Stippling means making dots. Random marks means you make any random mark you want to shade it in. The more you do of any technique, the darker it gets. The softer the grafite the darker the marks. This can show value because you can see the light and dark and understand the shadowing. This helps when making a 3D shape.

My favorite Artwork

Meadow IlluminationThis is by far my favorite project of the year. I got to express my self through paint. I had the theme of nature and I really went with it. I love the colors I used and I feel like I really made it my own. With a name like Meadow, I really have always brought drawing or paintings of nature to my attention. It was kind of like a free painting experience. I loved making it and I loved how it turned out.

Final Map project

Meadow Map Project 4Meadow Map Project 5 (1)I am delighted about how my artwork turned out. The perspective that I wanted was conveyed. I love how the skyline was defined. You can’t see it very well in to photo, but the colors look great. This project took a lot of time and effort. I made a lot of mistakes along the way but I had to go with the flow. That is skill the artists must have. It was difficult coming up with the idea and then following through. If I were to re-do this project I would have chosen something easier. I had a hard time with this, but I am happy that I stuck with it because it looks great and I am proud of it.

My Map Project 2

I am very happy about how my project is going. It is almost over and I am going to put layers in and hang it up. I am adding a moon in the back round. I am going to put every thing in order and line it up. I am very close to being done. It looks great and it is very colorful. I am going to cut out the to other spray painted papers and outline the last one in silver or white pencil. That way it will pop out. I think I am on the track to success.

My map project idea

My idea is to have an out line of the New York city skyline in color. How I am going to do this is cut out the skyline out of the map, then spray paint it on to black paper. The problem I ran into was, I wanted a clean map outline to put in front of it. So I had to make another outline with black paper and cut that one out too. After that I decided that After I spray paint it I would want to hang it up by string. Right now I am testing spray paint ideas. I am still making it and I think it is going very well. I want to add in other thing hanging from string like a moon or a sun. Meadow Map Project

My Geo Pattern

Meadow Geometric PatternI liked using the exact-o knife. I liked how it moved. It was my first time using one so it was kind of difficult. I like how it turned out. I think I could have done better. The colors are more for the Islamic design. We had to think outside the box. I think that I accomplished that.

My Illuminated Letter

Meadow IlluminationI loved this process. It was so much fun making it. I loved how it turned out so much. I love the colors and how they mix. I was going for the theme of nature. As you can see it is an M. You might not see this from the picture, but I wrote my name in the bamboo. This was so much fun and I want to do it again.
