Skyler: Blog post #7

This week, since I’m not with my siblings, I’ve been taking the Intro to Psychology lectures (which I’ve been taking throughout the course of the project). I’m finding that the past few lectures have little to do with the focus of my topic. The first two lectures provided the history of the development of psychology as a science as well and the foundations/founding theories of psychology. These lectures applied to my topic because they provided very general theories of psychology and life that could be focused on many different topics. There were a couple lectures after those two that discussed developmental psychology more specifically and provided theories about the stages of the development of complex thought and focused on infants-12 year olds. While this had more to do with the focus of my project than others, I didn’t feel like I got an analysis of child psychology through them. While the development of complex thought is important to child development, it didn’t reach the answer I was looking for on how we become the people we are, why my siblings are so much more difficult and complicated than other kids their age, why my brother and I were so quiet and shy and rarely got into trouble while my little siblings are insane and difficult and outgoing.
