Small form Factor PCs

Small form factor PC’s are a relatively new trend in the DIY PC marketplace, but have been in use for a long time.  One easy example of this is laptops.  Ever since the invention of the computer people have been looking for ways to fit things into smaller, more effective casings but often sacrificing performance along the way.  In laptops, for example, you will never find a full GPU or often not even one at all.  Manufactures will often shrink the parts by taking away the heat spreaders, which means that the card cannot generate as much heat, which means that it can’t be as powerful.  This trend of sacrificing performance for size has started to change a lot recently, as people are realizing the benefits of have more powerful hardware.  Although laptops that contain desktop grade components do exist, such as the GT80 Titan, they are extremely expensive (this one starting at $3,000).  A more affordable option is building a compact, or Small formfactor PC.  These are smaller versions of desktop grade hardware without sacrificing performance designed for tiny, portable, tower computers.  The problem with these types of machines, as opposed to laptops, is that they do not have a monitor and so to make them truly portable you have to carry around that as well.  This makes them pretty impractical as a laptop replacement.  It is this problem that we wish to solve with our Briefcase PC.  With an included laptop and spot to keep a mouse and keyboard the entire package is included in a convenient travel case.
