On Tuesday, March 12th the Justice Department declared that many wealthy parents in Hollywood, Wall Street, etc (Elizabeth Kimmel, Lori Loughlin and Felicity Huffman to name a few) had been bribing certain individuals to help their kids cheat on college entrance exams such as the SAT as well as bribing athletic recruiters!
“These parents are a catalog of wealth and privilege,” said Attorney Andrew Lelling.
Why would these parents in power do this? Some paying extreme amounts of money up to $500,000 or photoshopping their children’s heads onto athletes to get them into these elite schools! These parents are using their fame and wealth to get their children into these schools and the kids must have known, right? Did the kids want nothing more then to use their parents popularity and money to get what they want? From what it looks like now, they weren’t aware this was happening. Kimmel’s son said he had no idea what his mother was plotting this to help him get into college and was completely blindsided. When Kimmel’s son was asked about being a track athlete he was completely confused, his mother had provided a picture of what was “him” running but it wasn’t him!
Some may think that these parents hearts were in the right place, wanting nothing more for their children to get into a good school. Shouldn’t the parents be supporting not overthrowing? The stress of college and getting into college has been impacting parents and their kids for decades, but never to this extreme. These parents are now under major charges that will forever impact their career. What will happen next? Tip of the iceberg?
