This is an essay I wrote for the book The Giver. In class we read the Giver and then started discussing themes. The theme I chose was betrayal because in the book Jonas always feels betrayed. This was my thesis statement. The Elders are betraying the people inside the community because they don’t give them any knowledge of the outside world. The Elders want control but by having control they have to keep citizens ignorant so they follow any orders given. To stay in control they have to betray innocent people. Spelling and grammar is a challenge for me but I double checked my essay multiple times to make sure that everything was correct. I put a lot of work into this essay and I’m happy with my results.
