Yesterday John Singleton died of a stroke at the age of 51. He was an American film director, screenwriter and producer who made some of the best movies of his era. He is best known for being nominated for the Academy Award for Best Director for his 1991 film, Boyz n The Hood, at the age of 24. He was the first African American and youngest person to ever be nominated for that award. In 2002 the United States Library of Congress inducted the film into National Film Registry. Some of his other works include Poetic Justice, Snowfall and 2 Fast 2 Furious. Overall John Singleton was a trailblazer and icon and he will be missed.
