As many of you may know, there was no host for the 2019 Oscar Awards. Originally, Kevin Hart was supposed to host it, but he backed out on December 6th, 2018. Some homophobic tweets that he wrote about eight years ago resurfaced. He said that because of the whole situation, he didn’t want to ruin the Oscars, and he still wanted it to be the best for all of the talented artists. He also briefly apologized to those he may have hurt from the tweets from his past. He was offered to still be the host even after the tweets, as long as he made an official apology. Hosting the awards show had been a dream of his, as it is such a huge honor for anyone. But, he declined the offer and chose not to make the apology. He said that it had come up a few times in his past, and he had already addressed it and talked about it. He said that he had already told the public he knew it was wrong, and that he has changed. This was because he wanted to move on, and stop dwelling on his past mistakes. Despite there being no host, there were multiple performances and many wonderful winners, and make sure to read Kate’s article to learn more!
