The movie Les Miserables came out on December 14, and ended up getting nominated for eight Academy Awards. It was originally a play on Broadway, and the movie brings its magic to life once again. Les Miserables is a story set in the French Revolution about a slave, Jean Valjean who escaped from slavery, and found a nice side of himself in life. He meets a woman, Fantine, who got thrown out of the factory she was working in. Jean Valjean promises to take care of Fantineschild, Cossette, and she grows up with him as he hides the truth about why he is running from the police officer-Javert-who caught him for his wrong doings. Les Miserables is a story filled with courage, passion, anger, despair, sacrifice, and true love.

Les Miserables also got nominated for many Academy Awards, including Best Hairstyle and Makeup Design, Best Costume Design, and Best Original Song, in which “Suddenly” was nominated. Other nominations were for Hugh Jackman-Jean Valjean, for best Actor in a Leading Role, and Ann Hathaway-Fantine, for Best Actress in a Supporting Role. Finally, Les Miserables also got nominated for Best Picture.

Other actors and actresses in include Amanda Seyfried as the older Cossette, Russell Crow as officer Javert, Sacha Baron Cohen as the innkeeper, and Helena Bonham Carter as the innkeepers wife.

Les Miserables was a movie that truly moved me, the music, the story, everything. I recommend this movie to people who love musical theater, and love a really heartfelt passionate movie.
