Lance Armstrong is a professional cyclist in America, and a seven time Tour de France Champion. He survived testicular cancer, that spread to his lungs and brain, and from this, became a powerful symbol of chance of recovery and life after cancer. Lance Armstrong also was able to found the charity, Livestrong, in 1997 giving millions of dollars to help cancer patients. In 2011, Armstrong retired at the age of 39, saying he wanted to spend more time with his five kids, and that his age was catching up to him. Armstrong had been dodging accusations that he had been using illegal performance – enhancing drugs during his cycling career, and had denied doping. However, recently the results of a blood test were released, confirming that Armstrong had been doping all along. After Armstrong’s news got released, he was stripped of his seven Tour de France titles, and forbidden to compete in all Olympic sports ever again. Armstrong also ended his association with Livestrong. Just recently, Armstrong gave in, and announced to the public on an Oprah Winfrey interview that he had used performance-enhancing drugs during his cycling career. He also admitted to using drugs such as testosterone, cortisone, and human growth hormone. Just by one step of lying and cheating, Armstrong got himself into a much bigger problem than he had originally started, but even today, he is still fighting. -Bella
