Exploration and Expereince

In keeping with the LREI tradition of using the city itself to enhance the student’s learning experience, students in the 11/12th grade Musical Theatre elective attended a performance of the current Broadway revival of Spring Awakening. In preparation, the class explored its themes of miscommunication, sexual repression, and intolerance between parents and children, as well as the added layer of issues related to the deaf community in this recent revival. Students were moved to perform several musical numbers from the show in their final showcase.
