1. Complete pages 172 and 173 in the petit cahier. Use your textbook for the vocabulary and the correct conjugations of -RE verbs.
2. Study for the Un Ete Test, chapters 1-5, main ideas only. The test will be on Friday for both groups. We will finish with the details questions next week.
3. If you did not choose to hand in the letter part of the Un Ete Test, you will complete that on Friday as well.
4. Hand in chapters 1-5, exercises and vocabulary, on Friday. You have been working on this all quarter, and I hope that you have kept the work organized and in a safe place! Otherwise, you need to redo any missing parts by Friday.
Come up with a main idea (l’idee centrale) for each of the chapters in Un Ete (1-5) to use as a study guide for the test.
Write 1-2 sentences for each chapter en francais! We will go over these sentences in class and compile the most thoroughly and well-written ones to use as the focus of the chapters.
Also, here are the lyrics to “Ne me quitte pas”, by Jacques Brel. This is related to the verb “quitter”, which we talked about in class today.
Try to go to this link to hear it while you read the words:
Ne me quitte pas
Il faut oublier
Tout peut s’oublier
Qui s’enfuit déjà
Oublier le temps
Des malentendus
Et le temps perdu
A savoir comment
Oublier ces heures
Qui tuaient parfois
A coups de pourquoi
Le coeur du bonheur
Ne me quitte pas
Ne me quitte pas
Ne me quitte pas
Ne me quitte pas
Moi je t’offrirai
Des perles de pluie
Venues de pays
Oþ il ne pleut pas
Je creuserai la terre
Jusqu’après ma mort
Pour couvrir ton corps
D’or et de lumière
Je ferai un domaine
Oþ l’amour sera roi
Oþ l’amour sera loi
Oþ tu seras reine
Ne me quitte pas
Ne me quitte pas
Ne me quitte pas
Ne me quitte pas
Ne me quitte pas
Je t’inventerai
Des mots insensés
Que tu comprendras
Je te parlerai
De ces amants-là
Qui ont vu deux fois
Leurs coeurs s’embraser
Je te raconterai
L’histoire de ce roi
Mort de n’avoir pas
Pu te rencontrer
Ne me quitte pas
Ne me quitte pas
Ne me quitte pas
Ne me quitte pas
On a vu souvent
Rejaillir le feu
De l’ancien volcan
Qu’on croyait trop vieux
Il est para¡±t-il
Des terres brulées
Donnant plus de blé
Qu’un meilleur avril
Et quand vient le soir
Pour qu’un ciel flamboie
Le rouge et le noir
Ne s’épousent-ils pas
Ne me quitte pas
Ne me quitte pas
Ne me quitte pas
Ne me quitte pas
Ne me quitte pas
Je ne vais plus pleurer
Je ne vais plus parler
Je me cacherai là
A te regarder
Danser et sourire
Et à t’écouter
Chanter et puis rire
Laisse-moi devenir
L’ombre de ton ombre
L’ombre de ta main
L’ombre de ton chien
Ne me quitte pas
Ne me quitte pas
Ne me quitte pas
Ne me quitte pas
In addition to the sentences that I saw in class today from each of you, write 12 more that compare the French and American items that you researched. I will be looking for the comparison structures, correct spelling and usage of the vocabulary for the clothing items, and a variety of adjectives.
The minimum number of sentences that you will ultimately have will be 16. This will be graded as an assessment, which means it is counted within the 50% part of the report card. Do your best work.
We will spend another class period working on this and editing it. Below is an example of the types of sentences that I am looking for:
Le t-shirt français est jaune clair. Il est en coton. Il coute 20 euros.
Le t-shirt américain est orange. Il est en coton et en “spandex.” Il coute 15 dollars.
Je prefere le t-shirt français parce qu’il est plus doux que le t-shirt américain. Il est plus cher que le t-shirt du Gap (américain). Le t-shirt français est plus joli et moins grand que le t-shirt américain.
You have two assignments for Friday. Please read the following directions carefully.
1. In the textbook, read pages 302 and 303. Then, write out 2 questions in full sentences in French about EACH person’s information that you read. There will be a total of 10 questions. (S8: you can bring in one question per paragraph for tomorrow, with the other 5 to be finished during the class.) This will be shared in the class as we discuss the answers to these questions that you write.
Be sure to write in the 3rd person (il/elle) and be ready to also answer the questions (There needs to be a real answer within the reading.) You do not need to write out the answers, however. You do need to indicate that you understood the paragraphs.
2. Work on gathering information from the French websites “La Redoute” and “Les Trois Suisses”. You need to find two items of clothing from each store and keep track of the information that is on the chart on page 301 (except for the “pour qui” section.)
Next, find two American clothing store websites and search for a comparison; if you are interested in a sophisticated jacket in a specific style in a French store, try to to find one like it in an American store, etc. Find American versions of the French items if you can, and write down the information on the chart that you make.
3. S8: Bring in your Fashion Show outfits if you are participating in that activity as a model or a narrator.

2. Either begin or continue to work on gathering information from the French websites “La Redoute” and “Les Trois Suisses”. You need to find two items of clothing from each store and keep track of the information that is on the chart on page 301 (except for the “pour qui” section.)

You should have a total of 8 items when you are done. You will be writing a comparative paragraph using this information during another class.
In the textbook, complete activity 1 on page 264. You write out the sentences stating what there is is in the two rooms.
Be sure to use “Il y a”, the correct vocabulary, and an adjective for each item. There are 8 items in Frederic’s room, (and pick 3 from Thomas’ room if you were told to do so at the end of the class today in M8.)
