Tuesday, December 2

Due Wednesday:

1. Your nonfiction piece–A start:

Type up your first page–remember the one-inch picture frame!– about the topic you’ve chosen to write about and publish for your nonfiction piece!  This is just a starter.  Be sure you bring your notebook to class on Wed!

You are only beginning your piece–just see what comes out on the page as you type. The criteria for the writing are: it’s true, it happened to you, it’s first person, you want to write about it, and it’s meaningful to you for some reason.

2. Read the NYTIMES column from the day after Obama’s election. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/11/05/opinion/05friedman.html?_r=1&ei=5070&emc=eta1

Underline important sections and read to understand the big ideas. Be ready to discuss in homeroom.  How does this connect to studying the Reconstruction Era?

Due Thursday:

Read Montana 1948 pages 11-31. Complete the foldable after you have read this entire section. Be ready for a reading quiz!
