The Slants

The Slants are an Asian-American “dance rock band”. The trademark of their band name was taken to the Supreme Court. Read the article, then listen to their music. I personally like their heavy bass and percussion and how they blend with their lead vocalist’s deep, full voice.

Expectations by Hayley Kiyoko

Expectations is the debut album of Japanese-American lesbian artist Hayley Kiyoko. The album draws heavily from Kiyoko’s personal life. Kiyoko has spoken about her role of providing representation in her career, saying in an interview for Billboard, “I think it’s just important for people to lead by example. My motto is to help people love themselves sooner. I can’t teach them how to do that. They have to figure that out on their own — that’s their journey.”

My favorite songs from this album are: “Feelings”, “Sleepover”, “HNLY”, and “Wanna Be Missed.”
