Dear LREI Families,
Phew! This has been a busy week … and we aren’t done yet! Did you see the chorus concert? The instrumental ensembles? How about that?! So amazing. The hard work that the students and directors bring to these ensembles is truly amazing. Just so beautiful. Tonight we will host the annual High School Spring Festival of Plays- open to all (6:30 p.m. at 40 Charlton Street.) From director Joan Jubett – “standup comedy, scenes, monologues, musical theater, some special faculty guests…student films from this year’s Art 11/12 media and drama collaboration”. A reminder that high school performances often have older kid appropriate content.
But that’s not all.
The Book Swap is coming – TOMORROW, Friday 5/31
Bring in your gently used books for all ages – infant through adult – starting Monday, May 20. There will be a box by the front desks at Sixth Avenue and Charlton Street. On Friday, May 31, from 8-9 a.m. and 3-4 p.m. at Sixth Avenue, you can take some new books to refresh your collection! Get ready for summer reading! (Please do not bring used workbooks or textbooks.)
And MORE….
Friday and Saturday bring our annual Alumni Reunion. On Friday we will have alumni visitors touring the buildings, eating lunch with high school students, and reminiscing about the good old days. Friday evening will bring a young alumni party! So great to see these former students. On Saturday we will host lunches for landmark classes including the class of 1954 celebrating their 70th reunion.
We also have a number of Reunion events to which current families are invited. These include:
- Elisabeth Irwin: A Life in the Village, an engaging conversation about our founder with HS history teacher Ann Carroll (Saturday, June 1 at 2 p.m., 40 Charlton St.)
- An Interview with Dylan Zajac ’21, Founder/Executive Director of Computers 4 People (Saturday, June 1 at 3 p.m., 40 Charlton St.) Michael Patrick Achievement Award Recipient
- A Session with Denardo Coleman ’74, Jazz Drummer (Saturday, June 1 at 4 p.m., 40 Charlton St.) Distinguished Alum Recipient

We look forward to seeing you there!
I heard something about a “Dunk Tank” at the street fair. Who would do such a thing?
Next week is also filled with events, large and small – in classrooms, out and about in the world and, for the Class of 2024, THE PROM! All of this leads up to the last days of school, Fourth Grade Moving Up, Eighth Grade Moving Up, and, finally, Graduation!
As we get caught up in the excitement of these events and the coming of summer break, let us all remember the hard work that we are celebrating. Maybe it’s time to pull out a “first day of school snapshot” and see from whence we came. Your kids sure have grown and we sure are proud of them. Let’s also remember to say “Thank you” to those advisors and teachers who have made a difference this year. They have earned it.
Here we go!
