Dear LREI Families-
After a few recent “heavy” notes from me, I want to stay on the lighter side and offer reminders and suggestions for the remainder of the year.
In no particular order:
Get ready for Field Day! Divisional folks have or will send home reminders about Friday’s activities. We are going to have a great time. Field Day is important and will bring a sense of fun and joy to all who participate. Students – don’t miss it. We will celebrate the seniors and hear Josh Marks play the bagpipes! And, have you seen the T-shirt? Whoa!
It is important to be committed to school right up until the end. Towards that end:
-
Students, please arrive on time. Lots of lateness breaking out – you know who you are middle schoolers. Hard to have a good day when you wander in late. Just can’t catch up. This is really important.
-
Keep up with your work. End on a strong and positive note.
-
On nice days like today, it can be hard to stay focused. Come on! You can do it. Only 13 or 14 days left.
-
Have your stuff with you. All of it. Laptops? Charged and ready to go.
-
It’s not too late to make a new friend and maybe some plans for when school ends. Go for it. Connect.
-
Thank a teacher, or two, or three. In person or with a nice note. Don’t miss an opportunity to be grateful and generous.
There are so many exciting activities and events. What’s next? The MS art show and the chorus/band concert are all tonight! Last one? Commencement ‘22 is a really big deal. Mark your calendars for your family’s events and ask if you have questions.
Lastly, it is important for the year to end well. A good end can lead to a positive beginning in September. I recommend returning to or sticking with routines that work – bedtimes, family time, stories, less screen time, homework plans, etc. For some children (of all ages) don’t be surprised if there are moments of frustration, sadness, etc. Endings and changes are hard and can make us moody. For students who are going to miss classmates and friends, maybe make some plans now for getting together after school ends giving all something to look forward to. For others, maybe a few extra hugs on the way out of the door in the morning. If you have concerns or questions, please reach out to teachers, advisors, principals, members of the mental health and well-being team, me, anyone, someone.
And, I can’t believe I am writing this, keep an eye out for info regarding next year – medical forms, vaccine requirements, summer work for older kids, and more. I am actually starting to get a little excited!
Enjoy the long weekend.
Peace and health,
