Good afternoon and I hope this note finds you well.
I write with an addition to the letter I sent on Sunday evening. In my haste to send a note to the community before the school week began, and due to some inattention to the news cycle, in my writing about hatred and violence I failed to note the killing of two African-American citizens of Jeffersontown, Kentucky, murdered by an assailant who first tried, unsuccessfully, to enter a predominantly black church, before killing his victims in a grocery store.
I feel it is important to acknowledge and correct my omission in order to ensure that we see the breadth of the bigotry and violence on display in just the last week and to make sure that we do not marginalize the tragedies that befall populations that are frequently marginalized. My apologies for having overlooked this tragedy as I wrote about others.
Peace,
Phil
