Dear LREI Community,
Congratulations on an enriching, achievement-filled, community-minded school year. I have just returned from a post-graduation celebration and can tell you that while I went into today’s commencement ceremony with the idea that having your oldest graduate from high school would be a bittersweet occasion, I have discovered that the sweet is far more powerful than the bitter. The pride in accomplishment and growth is worth the 18-year wait! For those of you who have yet to experience this, you are in for a treat. For those of you who experienced this along with us today, congratulations!
The 2017-2018 school year tested our ability to find some balance, some comfortable accommodation between the joyous and the sorrowful. It is in these moments when the work that we all, school and family, put into community building is tested. We were not disappointed. Our community is strong and caring and devoted. Thank you. We so appreciate the thought and energy that LREI families share in the good times and when times are tough.
Finally, I offer a hardy virtual round of applause to all of our students for the attention and commitment they brought to their studies and to the other ways in which they are involved in the community. You achieved so much this year. We could practically see you grow (and in some cases we actually did!) You should be very proud of yourselves. We are.
Wishing you all of the best for a wonderful summer.
Peace,
