Mentors
Every new faculty member is assigned a mentor. A first year faculty member will meet regularly with their mentor and will both observe that mentor and be observed. These observations are meant to be supportive and non-evaluative, and do not get formally documented.
The mentor is just one resource for a first year faculty member. All experienced faculty, as well as the principal and assistant principal can be expected to provide answers to questions large and small. Mentors might come sit in on a class or a part of a class in order to check in. Our policy is ‘open door’ – it is both accepted and encouraged for all teachers to stop by each others’ rooms to observe during classes.
