Study Group
Study Group is designed for those students who experience difficulties completing homework on time. When a seventh or eighth grader is missing their homework, they attend study group that day. Study Group can be postponed a day for conflicting commitments outside of school (such as a doctor’s appointment). However, study group supersedes other extracurriculars such as athletics and play rehearsals. If a fifth or sixth grade student has missed four homework assignments in a trimester, they will be assigned to study group for the remainder for the trimester. It is the advisor’s responsibility to communicate with the family about this.
Study Group is held daily between 3:15 and 3:45PM. Students work independently on homework during this time. Study Group is proctored by seventh and eighth grade teachers on a rotating basis. At the end of a study group session, the proctor should email the 7th and 8th grade teams with a list of who attended the session. It is the assigning teacher’s responsibility to follow up if a student did not attend.
