Complete the worksheet assigned in class today.  We will go over it on Friday.

Here are the notes from class today!

Adding fractions with unlike denominators

1/6 + 1/8

 Find the LCM of the denominators.

Example. The LCM of 6 and 8 is 24

2.  Change the fractions to the equivalent fractions using the LCM as the denominator.

Example. 1/6 = 4/24.       1/8 = 3/24

3.  Add your new fractions.

Example. 4/24 + 3/24 = 7/24

4.  simplify if needed.
