Q: My best friends are consistently being very rude and mean to me and I feel like my best friends should be building me up but not tearing me down. I try to say stuff but they think I’m kidding they keep on just saying awful things to my face and to others how should I get them to stop?

A: First, you should very clearly express these feelings to them. Make it very obvious that you aren’t kidding and that you don’t appreciate the way they treat you. Have a real, serious conversation with them and tell them how you feel like they are tearing you down. If this still doesn’t work and your friends still make you feel bad about yourself and add stress to your life, then they aren’t really your friends. I know this is much easier said than done, because it is always hard to make new friends and growing apart from your old friends can be really sad. However, you don’t need this added emotional stress in your life. Your best friends should be the people you can rely on for support, laugh with, cry with, and they SHOULD be lifting you up. They shouldn’t be the ones giving you the problems you need emotional support for.

Hope I could help 🙂
