LREI lost a tough game to Churchill in a close played second half.
The team started off slow on offense with only scoring 4 points in the first quarter, whereas Churchill scored 15 points. The Knights started to bring some intensity in the start of the second quarter but it wore off and they were down still trailing by a large margin, 35 to 19. The Knights had much better played second half. The Knights cut it to 11 by the end of the third quarter and were hungry for a comeback win. The Knights went on a run, their defense was great as well as their second chance opportunities. The Knights went on a 8-0 run in the start of the third and cut it down to 3 points 46-43. Players such as Bruce, Keith, Nissim, Jacob H and Markese were causing the Churchill offense into corners or a trap, the Knights got the ball in transition and were able to score easily cutting it to one point. After getting the ball back on defense the Knights called a timeout with 3:36 left on the clock. During this timeout Churchill put in some of their good shooters. After the timeout the Knights couldn’t capitalize, which lead to two point on the other end of the floor for Churchill. Churchill ended up going on a run themselves that the Knights couldn’t catch up on. The final score was 61-53, Churchill. The Knights outscored Churchill in the second half 32-26 but it was their slow start that inevitably lost the game for them.
