Friday 2/12
In Class: Book Talks!
Homework: 1) Complete Reflection 8: Macbeth is a character whose attempts to take fate into his own hands and his greed for power drive him to commit immoral acts. While he is at first manipulated/encouraged by his wife (and the three witches), later his own desire to secure his power fuels him. Along the way, he loses close relationships, trust, and respect. At the very end, his downfall seems to serve a lesson for Scotland and for us as readers.  For this reflection, you will write about a modern day Macbeth. Who would Macbeth be in our time and what would he do to gain/secure power? Who and what would fuel his actions? What would be the consequences of his actions? In other words, what would he stand to gain/lose? Finally, what do you think we can learn from this “modern Macbeth” character? (at least 2 pages, typed, double-spaced, 12 point font). 2) Begin your next RWR book. 3) Revise your book review and post it to goodreads by Thursday 2/18 at 9 am.
