Dear Students,
Please read the information below if you want to do an honors project this trimester. You may only do 1 project this trimester.
What is an honors project?
An Honors Project is an independent course of study proposed by a student or group of students (generally not more than 2-3), that extends beyond the normal scope of the curriculum and allows students to explore their passions with the guidance of a teacher. Teachers help to guide and mentor Honors Projects in a number of disciplines in different grade levels each trimester. They meet once each week. Completion of an Honors Project is designated on the student’s official transcript. Because of the depth required in the study of an Honors Project, students are limited to participating in one at a time. These Projects are graded Pass/Fail or Pass with Distinction.
FOR ALL WHO WANT TO APPLY FOR A PROJECT:
- read all of the information posted on the honors project site under the “About Honors Project” menu before speaking with your project mentor
- speak with your project mentor about your idea and plan for documenting and sharing your work
- make a digital copy of the Honors Project Application document and add your name to the document title (e.g., “Margaret P. – Honors Project Application/Pathway”)
- complete the application and share it with your project mentor and advisor(s)
- if required, make any adjustments to the application per the requests of your project mentor and advisor(s)
- have your project mentor and your advisor(s) sign the form digitally
- share the completed application form with Co-principal Margaret Paul by Friday, January 5.
- DO NOT FORGET TO register your project on the honors project website (continuing projects must also be registered again)
- make a copy of the Honors Project Pathway form and update it throughout the project
Don’t hesitate to be in touch if you have any questions.
Best,
Mark Silberberg
