In this honors project, we (Layne and Dakota) decided to expand our knowledge of projectile motion and momentum that we had started in Kelly’s physics class. We met twice a week (Tuesday mornings at 7:30 and Fridays during lunch) and conducted two experiments, one for projectile motion and one for momentum. At the beginning of this process, we decided that our final project/culmination of what we learned would be a video, which we attached in the link below (the video was too big to fit into this post so we put it on Youtube)!

Project by: Dakota Law (10th Grade), Layne Friedman (10th Grade), ()
Faculty Advisor: Kelly O’Shea!

Please write a description of the project you are proposing. Why do you want to take this on, and what do you hope to learn?

We are interested in exploring more about free fall and momentum, by expanding what we learned in class to more 2D and 3D models. We will be able to expand our current models to include more situations. We hope to learn how angles affect projectiles and momentum.

What is your proposed outcome? How will you be able to demonstrate successful completion of this Project?

Our outcome will likely take shape as we conduct more experiments and collect more data but we would like to create a video explaining our findings. We would gather footage as we go, including footage of experiments, mathings, roadblocks, etc.

When do you plan on meeting?
Tuesday
