Project by: Natalie and Clara (11th Grade) & Cassie (10th Grade)
Faculty Advisor: Stephen MacGillivray and Jonathan Segal
Through completing this project we have learned about the LREI community and the ways in which the students belonging to it learn. It required a basic neurological understanding of how humans perceive information and offered us a chance to examine the topic in our own student body. A few challenges we came across was being able to translate the research we had collected into an engaging and understandable assembly for our peers. We had to remove some of the complex language used in our explanations and formulate a means in which to convey what learning differences were truly like within our own community. We did this by creating a concise, comprehensive presentation and documentary. In the film, one is able to see how students deal with their learning differences and collect insights into their personal experiences. We hope to have played a role in educating the student body and learning more ourselves.

PROPOSAL
Please write a description of the project you are proposing. Why do you want to take this on, and what do you hope to learn?
Through this group honors project we hope to become educated on a crucial issue that has affected most of us our entire lives. We will be compiling interviews from people inside of our community in order to make this video, as well as study the neuroscience behind learning differences and the effects it has on individuals. (this is an honors project that began in trimester 3 of last year and will continue through 1 trimester of this year as stated in my previous proposal, we are now in the editing stage).
What is your proposed outcome? How will you be able to demonstrate successful completion of this Project?
We plan on showing this documentary this fall during our learning differences assembly and hope to share our knowledge with our fellow students.
From Micah: Hi Natalie, Clara, and Cassie,
Thanks for your work on this project. The assembly was very well done. Can you expand on your reflection? How was the outcome different than you may have expected? What was the hardest part about standing in front of the whole school and sharing your work?
Thanks,
Micah
