A student applying for an Honors Project (new and continuing) will

  • Speak with the proposed project mentor and their advisor about the intended scope and outcomes of the project.
  • Print and complete the Honors Project Application form making sure to include any feedback that was given by the project mentor and/or advisor.
  • Submit the application form to the project mentor and advisor(s) for review. If required, make any necessary changes to the application. Make sure that the project mentor and advisor(s) sign the form.
  • Submit the application form at the reception desk for Co-Principal Margaret Paul.
  • Register the project on the online journal.

An application is not approved until both the faculty mentor and the student’s advisor have signed-off on the application from. 

The application asks for the following info:

  • What is the title of your Honors Project?
  • Please write a description of the project you are proposing. Why do you want to take this on, and what do you hope to learn?
  • Critical thinking, creativity, citizenship and courage are essential LREI learning values. Explain how you’ll draw on at least one of these values to complete your proposed project?
  • What is your proposed outcome? How will you be able to demonstrate successful completion of this Project? How do you plan to share your learnings with the larger LREI community (e.g., exhibit of work, poster of learnings, performance, etc.)?
  • Please provide a general outline that indicates your work plan for the trimester? What are some of the key project benchmarks (i.e., goals that will help to ensure that you finish the project)?
  • When do you plan on meeting with your project mentor?
