Personal Project

The personal project will culminate in the unique contribution/perspective that you will bring to the Medieval Pageant.

While we will all share insights about the city that we build in Minecraft with visitors to our guild, but the evening will also call on you to share about an area of expertise. To do this, you will need to:

  1. Refine your character’s story so that you are comfortable sharing with guests as your character. It is not enough to share what you have learned, you’ll also need to do this in character. Your character will provide the background and context for your sharing.
  2. A focused area of study related to stonemasonary or related building techniques. My suggestion is that you review the videos here and choose a particular aspect that really interests you. I am going to carve letters. I am going to make a demonstration on what they used to carve things for.
  3. Your research in area #2 should lead you to a very focused aspect of the work that you can share. To do this you will likely need to create items for your “workshop” so that you can demonstrate the work. Visitors to the guild will meet you “at work.” What tools and materials will you need? What will you be doing with them as you talk to your visitors? What will you wear? I am going to talk to the visitors about what people would use the letters for and possibly bring up that most people could not read. I am going to wear a light colored shirt and pants. I am going to ask the visitors what there name is and if they know how to read. And I am going to tell them what things are easy to carve and what is not easy to carve.
