1. IRB

2. Type out your essay. Make sure it is double-spaced and in proper paragraph form. Write in Times-Roman, 12 point font. Use the proper heading.

You must read your essay to an adult and get him/her to sign your paper. Ask them for advice since you will have to edit your work again. Be receptive to criticism!

3. Type out and edit your NEW POEM from the translating exercise we completed today. Remember, your NEW POEM must make logical sense and be a stand alone piece. Don’t be afraid to delete and add whole sections to make it work.

2. Make sure you bring in your essay packet. We will be working on our conclusion tomorrow.

3. Literature Circle group meets on Thursday for the final time!

1. IRB – set a goal for yourself (ex: 30 pages or 5 chapters) and try to complete it. Remember you have about 3 weeks to get to your goal (25 books!).

2. Bring home your writer’s notebook and type up your favorite piece (poem or short story) that you have written. Save it in a way so that you will be able to retrieve it electronically (ex: email it to yourself, save it on a flashdrive, etc.)

3. We still need a copy of Coraline and Enola Holmes.  Bring them in if you have these books!

4. Come up with two or three personal essay questions. Here are some examples below:

• Tell about a terrifying experience that you had when you were young.
• Describe an important social event that you took part in. (wedding, church party, sports event, etc.)
• Describe one of your grandparents. What has he/she accomplished in life? Would you like to be like him/her?
• Tell about a family outing or vacation. What did you learn from the experience?
• Have you ever been involved in some serious wrongdoing? What lesson did you learn from the experience?
• Is there anything in your past that you would like to change? How would you change it if you could?
• Relate an exciting experience from which you developed a particular talent or interest.
All of us learn from our failures as well as successes. What is something you gained from an unsuccessful experience?
• Have you ever wanted something so badly that you would do anything to get it? How did you feel after you received or attained the thing that you desired? Did it make your life happier or more miserable? Tell about such an experience.
• Who was the most influential person in your life? How did this person make you want to become better?
