The Treasure Hunt

Jack is 19. he is a scuba diver from the Bahamas. He likes to dive and study fish. He has been diving for 3 years and has learned tips and tricks on how to dive. In 2006 he became a diving instructor. He led diving tours and has his own dive boat. One day he was at his house on his laptop and he got a video chat from a unknown caller. When he opened it he realized it was his dad. His dad is a hacker who lives in Syria. His dad was telling him about a treasure buried half a mile off the coast of where he was living. His dad texted him a map and then said he was being attacked. Jack was really excited but got scared when he heard guns.

Jack was interested in the treasure and wanted to find it. He followed the map out into the sea, anchored his boat and dove in. He put his phone in a plastic bag and brought it down with him. He followed the map until it led to a cave. He then realized he wouldn’t have enough air to make it to the treasure so he figured out where he was and went back to his boat to refill his air and drive the boat over the cave. But then he got a call from his mom saying his dad is in the hospital injured and has something important to tell him.

Jack went home and booked a flight to Syria. After he got there he went to the hospital and found his dad. His dad told his mom to leave the room. He tells Jack that the treasure is guarded by a shark and it would be hard to get past it. He says there’s a secret base in the cave. He said there’s a big X on the wall and you just push the middle and it opens a secret base with food, clean water, and weapons. He said there’s enough air for two full days. Jack asked his dad how long he should stay in Syria. His dad said leave now and come back if you find the treasure.

Jack’s mom came back into the room and said goodbye to Jack and to come back soon. Jack went back to the Bahamas and went to work to find somebody who would take him to the cave he finally found somebody to take him. His guid made a plan to go and find the treasure then they would split it. They got all their equipment ready and went diving.  They found the cave but found an old scuba tank and some bones near it they decided that they needed better weapons. If they wanted to kill the shark. After they get better weapons they explore the cave. There was no sign of the shark. They did find the secret base and then they opened it they didn’t want to stay too long because they didn’t want to use all the air but then they saw something it was big and fast and looked like a shark. They swam as fast as they can while shooting at it. They finally got out and went back to the boat. Jack was terrified of sharks but he really wanted the treasure. He went home and thought,  he figured if he could kill the shark by leading it out of the cave and have some people shoot at it. He just needed bait and a couple shooters so he can kill it then it would be easy to get the treasure. So he found his bait and his shooters and he told them the plan. They tried it but the shark didn’t die they had to swim super fast to make it to the boat. But Jack had another plan he figured that the shark needs to eat. So if he filled the cave with fish poisoning it would poison the fish enough to make them die but the shark wouldn’t. So they would lock the shark in for a week then get the treasure Jacks plan was good but he didn’t know were to get fish poisoning. He looked in a bunch of different shops but couldn’t find anything. But when he was walking down an alley a person stopped him and said

hy are you coming down this alley.”I need fish poisoning. “You need fish poisoning?” “yes I mumbled. “ 250 a pound  fine  3 pounds for 750 dollars, right? H“We and his team dove into the water and started blocking off the cave. But they realized what they were blocking off the cave with was melting in the water . So they set off to find another thing to block up the cave at first they thought cement, but then they realized that it would be hard to break it after they poisoned the fish. Then they realized that they could get a big boulder and put it in front of the cave. But then they couldn’t find a boulder. They searched for hours. They finally found one but weren’t able to move it. But so they called more people and were able to get the rock over the cave.  Once they got the rock over the cave they were able to. Then they brought the fish poison and started filling the cave. Three days later they came back and moved the big boulder. They saw all the dead fish and were wondering if the shark was there. They didn’t see or hear him so Jack went to the cave base and refilled his oxygen tank.  Then he realized that there were video cameras and that he saw the shark was dead. He went straight to the treasure and when he saw an X on the ground he knew he found it. He started digging and then he saw a box that had a lock. He was so excited it was hard for him to bring it out of the cave. He needed two people to lift it out of the water. When he got the treasure on the sand he realized that there was a lock. He video chatted his dad and told him about the treasure and the lock. His dad said that he had the key and he needed Jack to come right away. Jack went on a plane and was ready to get to syria when the man next to him said, ”why are you going to syria?” “I am going to visit my dad.” “oh he said I am going to attack people. Jack backed away slowly. He asked the flight attendant for a new seat. She gladly switched him out. After he talked with his dad about the treasure he went back home. His dad said there was a key in the bank that Jack could get. Later Jack went to the bank and realized that the key was very old and he unlocked the treasure and found 17 million dollars in antiques.  Jack decided to fly his parents out of syria and build a big mansion for him and his parents to stay in.

Scratch reflection

screen-shot-2016-11-04-at-9-22-19-amI think my game turned out well and it was really working on it. I struggled with making it fall in the beginning but then it got easier. I also added variables like a score and timer which was fun. I am very proud of my game because it took a while and it was fun to build. I also like how the game got harder over time.

Welcome to your digital portfolio!

Welcome to your brand new digital portfolio/blog at blogs.lrei.org!

Your portfolio can be used for many things through out your middle and high school years, including:

  • Documenting and reflecting on your learning, passions, and interests, both in and out of school
  • Curating and highlight work for your Family Conferences
  • In some instances, your teachers will ask you to submit, reflect and comment on work in this portfolio

It is our hope that you also seek to make this a personally relevant learning space in which you curate work that is important and meaningful to you. As you build this learning space, we also hope that you will use it as a way to connect with other learners in the LREI community and beyond.

Your LREI account (Mail, Docs/Drive) credentials will automatically get you into your blog. Here are a few things you’ll want to take a look at:

1. Change the name of your blog. To do this, go back to the Dashboard and click on the “Home” symbol, then on “MS Digital Portfolio Template” under “This Blog.”

Blog

In the field for “Site Title,” add a new title. You can use your first name if you want (e.g., “Mark’s Digital Portfolio”), but don’t use your first and last name. You can also create a title that doesn’t have your name in it. Be as creative as you want, but keep in mind that the title should relate to the purpose of the portfolio.

After you’ve added a new title, click “Save Changes” at the bottom of the page.

2. Add a Post

For the most part, you’ll be adding items to your blog as posts. To add a new post, you can click on the +New button in the top bar of your blog, and then select “Post.”

Screen Shot 2014-09-04 at 8.45.30 AM

You’ll want to give each post a title, and assign it to a Category. These categories are broken down by class and grade (e.g., fifth grade, core, etc.). This will allow you to organize and sort information so that you can control the look and feel of your blog. If you take a look at the menu bar under the blog title, you see the different groups of categories (e.g., class, grade, teacher, etc.).

When you’re done with your post you can click “Publish” on the side to make the post appear on your blog
